DHL Global Forwarding has opened a new EUR 27m logistics centre

DHL Global Forwarding has opened a new EUR 27m logistics centre at Brussels Airport, which it is bringing together all its Belgian air freight operations.
The new facility at Brucargo has 23,000 square metres of warehouse capacity on a 54,000 square metre site.
It will see all of DHL Global Forwarding Belgium’s air freight activities brought together under one roof, the company said.
DHL said the new facility meets the “most stringent” air freight safety requirements and the Transported Asset Protectoin Association security standards.
The building includes capabilities including a 1,750 square metre temperature-controlled area designed for life science and other climate-sensitive shipments.
Jean-Claude Delen, CEO DHL Global Forwarding BeNeLux & France, said: “DHL Global Forwarding’s choice for Brucargo strengthens the status of the cargo area and Brussels Airport as a key employment platform in Belgium. Brussels Airport is our country’s second economic driver, providing 20,000 direct and 40,000 indirect jobs. Through this 27 million euro investment in this new logistics platform, DHL Global Forwarding is reinforcing our strategy to focus on the specific logistics needs of our various key industry sectors.”
DHL Global Forwarding has had operations based at Brucargo since 1980. The company says its latest investment at the site demonstrated its commitment to the area.
